The more I look at this the more debates I find over the best method, CORBA seems to be considered heavyweight and out of date. SOAP has many followers, but this is also considered by many to be too heavyweight. JSON has it's fans who claim that it is lighter weight than SOAP, but more suited to data carriage than document carriage. Finally I have stumbled upon REST which seems to make a lot of sense, though I haven't looked at it deep enough yet.
The meeting went ok tonight and I have a list of 'requirements' along with a few vague and woolly ideas. I'll try to make sense of it all later today.
